Andrew & Teresa, from CANA Hong Kong, share their experience of the Fraternal Life Week session with CANA Hong Kong

From 29 April to 4 May 2026, we had the grace to participate in the CANA Hong Kong Fraternal Life Retreat at Salesian Retreat House, Cheung Chau, Hong Kong. It was a deeply meaningful and enriching experience for both of us, not only as husband and wife, but also as members of the wider CANA family.

Throughout the Retreat, we were touched by the sincere sharing and loving service of many CANA couples. Their openness, humility, and faith reminded us that marriage is not simply a personal journey, but a vocation lived within a community. Listening to different couples sharing their joys, struggles, failures, and hopes helped us realise that we are never alone in our own challenges. In each testimony, we could see God quietly at work in ordinary married life.

One of the most beautiful aspects of the retreat was the experience of fraternity and communion among couples. Every day, we prayed together, celebrated the Eucharist together, shared meals and conversations, and accompanied one another in a spirit of simplicity and trust. There was a deep sense of peace and acceptance. Even in silence, we felt connected.

Another precious experience was the sharing of life among couples. These exchanges were honest and heartfelt. They encouraged us to reflect more deeply on our own marriage, our communication, and the way we accompany one another in daily life. We experienced that true fraternity is not built on perfection, but on mutual listening, vulnerability, and love.

This Retreat reminded us that CANA is truly a spiritual family. The warmth, care, and joy we experienced helped us rediscover the beauty of walking together as couples seeking Christ in married life.

We returned home with grateful hearts, renewed hope, and a deeper desire to continue growing in love, prayer, and service within the CANA mission. We sincerely thank all the couples and organisers who made this Retreat possible. May the Lord continue to bless all CANA families around the world.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:9-10)
